DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTERS EXPLAINED

WHAT IS A DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER ?

A diesel particulate filter or DPF is most easily explained as a filter within the exhaust of most modern diesel vehicles (from 2005 onwards). The filters job is to reduce emissions by collecting them in the soot which exits the vehicle via the exhaust. The car is then programmed to perform a “Re-gen” or “Regeneration” to clear the filter, preventing it from blocking up with soot. However, there are many reasons as to why vehicles don’t re-gen which thus causes the filter to become blocked. Examples of these are EGR faults, Engine Fault Codes, Short Journeys, Low fuel and many more.

It is therefore key to understand why a DPF has been blocked, before changing, cleaning or deleting it. We use extensive diagnostic work to find out the route of the issue before proceeding. Whilst you can clean or replace DPFs at a great expense, by hollowing out the filter and mapping the software to suit, we provide the only solution which is guaranteed to have no future comeback.
